Course Description:  AVID is an academic elective class that students commit to for  3-4 years. Students must have a 2.0-3.5 G.P.A. to be eligible to apply for application into  the program. AVID is a researched-based program that provides curriculum support for  language arts, math, scy using the high school AVID libraries.   Students must be capable of completing a college preparatory path including some honors  and AP classes. The AVID class will focus on pedagogy in writing, inquiry and collaboration.   Reading strategies are taught to help students improve both reading and writing skills that will  improve learning around state and district standards. The WICR process (writing, inquiry,  collaboration, and reading) is continued and required. (11/02)
